Requirements
To qualify for the TEFL course, you must have a high school certificate, be academically prepared for university-level work, and demonstrate proficiency in spoken and written English. 18-19 year olds may be accepted at our ground team’s discretion, based on an initial call.

Trip itinerary
Arrival
When you arrive at Guadalajara Airport, your private transport will take you to your included accommodation. This will be your home for the next 4 weeks as you complete your TEFL qualification.
You’ll meet your host family and get settled into your new home.
Day 1
Since your host family will live in a central neighbourhood away from the city center, you’ll need to learn the bus routes to get to class. On your first day, your host family will go to the school with you to show you the way. They’ll also be there at the end of the day to show you the way back.
Once at the school, you’ll meet your classmates and trainers that’ll be with you for the duration of your course.
Week 1-4
You'll complete your 140-hour TEFL qualification over 4 weeks, 5 days a week.
This involves 8-9 hours a day of classroom training which includes 15+ hours of observation and practical teaching.
Here’s a rough look at how your day could be structured:
9:00 am – 1:00pm: Classroom sessions covering grammar, phonetics, teaching skills, and classroom management.
1:00pm – 2:00 pm: Lunch
2:00pm – 3:00pm: Guided lesson preparation
3:15pm – 6:15pm: Class observation of teaching practice
You’ll observe and present lessons to non-English speaking classes and individuals while TEFL instructors supervise and evaluate your skills. You’ll receive constructive feedback to help you improve as a teacher.
Once you’ve passed your course, our in-country team will help you find your new teaching job in Mexico. If you choose to teach in another part of the world, they can offer direct contacts and career long guidance to help you land a job.

Each teaching position is different – so how your life will look is different for everyone.
Most teachers get time off during school holidays, giving you the perfect opportunity to use that salary to explore more of Mexico or Latin America.

What happens if I need to cancel my trip?
We know that life can get in the way of travel, so all our trips come with a great deal of flexibility. In most cases, if you cannot travel on your selected date, you can place your trip on hold to deal with whatever is holding you back, and continue in the future without incurring any penalty. You may also have the option of transferring to an entirely different trip and destination as well, or even transferring your trip to a friend or family member. In the event that you need to outright cancel your trip, if you give us 84* days notice you can do so with only a 50% cancellation fee. Your refund of the balance will come in the form of a Store Credit which you can put toward any other trip that we offer, including tours through third-party providers, as well as holidays through DealsAway.com, and is valid for 2 years from date of issue. As international travel can be complex, your options are based on the progress of your trip organisation and our support team can assist you in finding the best solution for your needs.
