Trip overview

Peru can be described with words as colourful as the country. But the most accurate may be 'sacred'…

Ancient architecture that’s puzzled archaeologists for decades, ceviche so good it’s eaten all over the world, and alpacas – giraffe, horse, or camel?

A stronghold of the Inca civilization in times past, modern-day Peru is a blend of indigenous Peruvians and all the influences that came with colonialism.

The result? A South American country that’s retained much of its indigenous culture and population – with a strong Catholic and Spanish influence.

So basically the perfect place to learn Spanish through immersion, which is exactly what you’ll be doing on this trip!

Not only will you get to study in the heart of a bustling historic city in Cusco, Peru; you get:

  • Small group Spanish classes – The ideal mix of personalised attention, social interaction and engagement! Join 3 to 8 other learners at your proficiency level for 4-hour Spanish lessons Monday through Friday.
  • Cultural exchange – The campus in Cusco is a thriving hub of international students studying Spanish and Peruvian students learning English. So you’ll have the chance to make lifelong friends from all over the world while mastering Spanish.
  • Orientation activities – A walking tour to get the lay of the land, cooking classes to demystify Peruvian food, and salsa classes to dazzle dance floors around the world.
  • Accommodation & meals – For a complete language immersion, you'll stay in a private room in the home of a local Peruvian host, where breakfast and dinner will be provided daily.
  • Academic credit (optional)This course is approved for US higher education credits. So, if you complete specific course requirements, this trip could contribute to your degree!

There’s nothing like jumping into the deep end with full cultural immersion to learn a language at top speed. And this is the philosophy behind this trip.

The focus is learning Spanish through immersion. Y’know, actually speaking the language. Pen and paper will be used, but the main focus is a good ol’ chin wag.

Trip details

Get ready for a fully immersive language-learning experience! Your instructors are experienced, certified, native Spanish instructors – and they’ll be speaking Spanish 100% of the time during class.

But don’t worry. You’ll catch up fast. And before you know it your Spanish will be rolling off your tongue like a local.

Plus, you’re in Cusco, Peru. A city so cool they slapped a UNESCO World Heritage Site title on it.

The traditional markets, festivals, and cuisine show off the blend of indigenous, European, and African influences that makes up modern day Peru.

Talking about food, Peru is a highlight in South America. And Cusco is drool-central whether you’re fine dining with celebrity chefs or having a snack on the street.

When the pace of the big city gets a bit much, you have some of the most mystical mountain ranges in any direction you wander.

Acting as the gateway to Machu Picchu – you could reach this sacred site in 4-5 days on foot. Or you could do a day trip with a tour guide if you’re not ready for a strenuous stroll in the Inca’s footsteps.

When you go with Global, you get the full experience for a fraction of the hassle. We offer the complete package for learning how to speak Spanish like a local in Cusco.

Our team will help you with the essentials you need to start your new journey with a bang! Including helping you with visas, enrolling you in classes, securing your accommodation, and a whole lot more.

What extra costs will I have?

Flights, travel insurance, souvenirs, study materials, daily transportation, extra activities & spending money.

Accommodation & meals

Once you touch down in Cusco, you’ll be taken straight to your included homestay accommodation.

You’ll stay with a friendly Peruvian host in a private room. You’ll get your own key so you can come and go as you please.

All homestays are conveniently located within a short distance, making it easy to access the language institute within 10-20 minutes by walking or a quick 15-25 minute taxi/bus ride.

While some hosts may not offer WiFi, don't worry! You'll have full access to the institute's computer lab and WiFi throughout your trip, ensuring you can complete your studies and connect with family and friends back home.

Your host will provide breakfast and dinner 7 days a week. And you'll have plenty of tempting options available for lunch! Peruvian cuisine is a delightful blend of flavors, combining indigenous ingredients with influences from Spanish, African, and Asian cuisines. Treat yourself to iconic dishes such as ceviche, lomo saltado, and anticuchos.

As an added perk, free coffee, tea, and snacks will be available to you at the language institute's snack bar!

Why Study

The main purpose of this trip is to get you speaking Spanish like a local in as short a time as possible.

Our in-country partner’s teaching style focuses on immersion – throwing you into the deep end by surrounding you with Spanish speaking instructors from the start. This method of learning a language is consistently proven to be the fastest way to get conversational – and that’s the whole idea behind learning a new language!

On top of your new language skills, this will also give you an opportunity to fall in love with the nuances of Peruvian culture. And if that’s not enough immersion, you could choose to live with a Peruvian host so you can practise your Spanish at the dinner table, too!

This trip is more than just brushing up on your Spanish skills. This trip will peel a layer back on Peruvian culture, giving you a glimpse into what makes the people and culture so incredibly special.

So when you get home, not only will you be able to show off your new Spanish vocabulary. You’ll also be able to share interesting tidbits and lessons you learned about Peru, its culture, and its people.

At Global Work & Travel, we share a deep love for animals and fully understand the special bond you have with your pet. We recognise the challenges of embarking on a trip without them. Due to travel restrictions, requirements, and limited pet-friendly accommodations among our host organisations, we regretfully cannot facilitate their inclusion in the journey. However, many of our customers choose to entrust their pets to a family member or friend, embark on their adventure, and return home to wagging tails and furry cuddles.

What happens if I need to cancel my trip?

We know that life can get in the way of travel, so all our trips come with a great deal of flexibility. In most cases, if you cannot travel on your selected date, you can place your trip on hold to deal with whatever is holding you back, and continue in the future without incurring any penalty. You may also have the option of transferring to an entirely different trip and destination as well, or even transferring your trip to a friend or family member. In the event that you need to outright cancel your trip, if you give us 84* days notice you can do so with only a 50% cancellation fee. Your refund of the balance will come in the form of a Store Credit which you can put toward any other trip that we offer, including tours through third-party providers, as well as holidays through DealsAway.com, and is valid for 2 years from date of issue. As international travel can be complex, your options are based on the progress of your trip organisation and our support team can assist you in finding the best solution for your needs.
