Hi Deanna,
I am doing very well, thank you! And yourself?
Yes, I am still in Canada - living and working in Banff at The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. I am in the middle of completing my transfer into the Reservations Department at the hotel as well after completing 9 months of continual service and completing the Train The Trainer program with Fairmont.
Since living in Banff, I've done lots of travelling to; Lake Louise, Calgary, Edmonton, Jasper, Toronto and also Cancun - Mexcio!
I would like to continual to thank Global for their help in getting me to Canada, and I would not be where I am today without Global!
Thanks, Troy A.
Hi guys,
How are you? Luke and I are having the time of our lives here in Banff. We like our jobs... although Luke's is a bit boring at the moment. (Employer name removed) staff and management have been really nice to me... they even let me come to their christmas party which involved an 'amazing race' where you could win lots of cool prizes followed by a great dinner at Giorgio's (an awesome Italian restaruant).
We have made so many great friends here who always offer to take us up the mountain.. we ski at Sunshine which is ok right now but getting better each snow fall. They have also been showing us around town and especially all the awesome bars and restaruants (of which for a small town there are many).
We have been to the Hot springs and I have hiked up to Banff Springs and to the top of Tunnel mountain, all which have revealed amazing views!
Once again this is all thanks to you guys. Also I would like to send you a post card... which address should I send it to?
Hope everything is all going well and people are getting jobs like us!
If you want to see any of my or luke's photos feel free to add us on facebook!
Hope to talk to you soon. But in case we miss each other Luke and I both hope you guys have wonderful Christmas' and an awesome New Year!
Cheers,
Natalia K.
To everyone at Global who guided me through all the mayhem!
THANKYOU!!
I am very happy with my position here and am on my feet and surviving!
The staff are great, the accommodation is great and the location is amazing!
I owe you all a bottle of wine.
Thanks again and I hope you had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Sincerely
Alick K.
Hi there, its Ricky here.
This is just an email to say thanks for all the help that you and The Global Work and Travel Company has given me during my time here in Canada. I have a had a great time but I feel that it is now time that I returned home. My time here has been amazing and I have worked in two really great jobs. The Winter Olympics were amazing and so much fun, and the last six months working at Taboo has been a great experience. I have made many friends and have seen and done things that only a few people have done and am very happy with all that you have done for me. I was even able to recommend you guys to a few people who were looking to work and travel. Hopefully I will be able to use your services again soon, as I love Canada and I plan to be back.
Thank you again for all your help

After news on my job at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and an 11+ hour bus ride ride from Vancouver I arrived at Golden. I had no idea at the time or had never really heard of Golden but after a few days had fallen in love with the place. Golden itself is a small town of around 4000 people nestled in the Rocky Mountain Trench, built around the meeting points of the Columbia and Kicking Horse rivers. The Kicking Horse River runs right through the Middle of Town with some spectacular bridges and awesome Whitewater rafting up stream, it’s a pretty special place. It is surrounded by three different mountain ranges and five National Parks: Yoho, Banff, Jasper, Glacier, and Kootenay. At first I was a little over whelmed with how busy it was for a town that size. Lots of trucks, unbelievably huge trains and hundreds of tourists. After stepping off highway No. 1 into the heart of town it was definitely much quieter. The people here are very friendly and have helped me out along the way. My job at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort did not include Staff Accommodation or transport, which is what i was after, however after staying at the New Dreamcatcher Hostel in town (which I thoroughly recommend), i soon found a place to live and travel to work was actually not a problem.
They're is so much to do in Golden its ridiculous. Straight away I went out and purchased a downhill mountain bike for Summer, with Mount 7 and Kicking Horse providing some of North America's most extreme runs. At work we quite regularly are calling ambulance’s and dialing 911 so im always careful. In meeting new friends I am now hooked on River Boarding and the odd float down the river. There are also some pretty specy spots like the Blackberry, Mount 7 and Lake Louise just up the road. In addition to this, the occasional BBQ, get together or Staff party is quite frequent which as an Aussie I love.
Both The Resort and Town whilst busy in summer is nothing compared to winter or so I’ve heard. The Resort itself is around 14 km's across the Columbia and up the hill from Golden. The drive to and from work is out of this world. Although I have no car I seem to always hitch a ride without a fail. Up on the Mountain there is loads to do. During summer there is Downhill Mountain Biking, Hiking, Trail Riding, ATVing, the Grizzly Bear Refuge, the Golden Eagle Express where you'll find Canada's highest Restaurant and much more. We also cater from some of Canada's best Rafting and Jet boat riding. Winter is when the place really comes alive. According to the guys that work here there are now way over 120 runs with a new couple of new Mountains/Bowls being added this year. In total there are now 4 bowl's and endless back country runs for the more experienced. Kicking Horse is apparently renowned for its ‘Champaign powder’ & features the fourth highest vertical drop North America which sounds a little scary. On the top they get up to 700cm (275") of snow a season. 7 Metres!!! Although I have never really skied or boarded before they reckon I'll be able to pick it up fast. Most of the runs are intermediate to advanced but with Mountain school & guides it shouldn't be long before I’m shredding. The Resort itself has only been around for 10 years, with currently several accommodation options and numerous restaurants available they are looking at expanding to become Canada's No.1 Ski/Boarding destination. Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is a great place to work and Golden is an incredible place to live. I thoroughly recommend to anyone thinking of applying for employment or even staying in future to contact Global Work & Travel.
Live the Adventure, Live the Dream!

Hi Deanna,
Not a problem, its okay I have a piece of paper they gave me with the number on it so no rush with the card just whenever you get time is fine. And yes thank-you I am having so much fun this job is amazing and the people are just as amazing.
Thank-you to all you guys at Global Work (& Travel) for helping to achieve my long awaited dream.
Warm Regards
Jessie :D
Hi Deanna
I am really enjoying the city, I feel like I could live here forever! My job is going really well also, it’s funny how the brain remembers everything even if it’s a year later. They use all the same processes and computer systems that I’m used to. I started last week, so was basically in training the whole week, and this week I’m on my own doing it all but its good; much better than I remembered it in Adelaide. I’m very lucky!
I’ve been doing a bit of travelling; I went to Victoria the other weekend which was absolutely beautiful, felt like I was in London!! :) and I’m hoping to make it to Seattle sometime soon also.
I moved in today and I was so excited to finally unpack and be done with living out of a suitcase. I met lots of people these last 3 weeks so I hope to keep in touch with them all. Everyone here has been so friendly and welcoming – it’s so nice to see.
Say hi to the rest of the girls in the office- I'll keep in touch. Thanks again!
All the best,
Marina B.
Hi Cara,
sorry for the late reply, been pretty busy.
i'm having an awesome time, the work is great, the people are great and the scenery is unbelievable.
There seem to be plenty of opportunities for more work up here too which is good. I've been thinking that I'll want to stay longer than the return ticket home says, its not until this November so plenty of time to change, it wouldn't be too hard would it? I'll have to take some more photos but this is just down from where im living.
thanks so much for all the help, Canada is awesome :).
Dan B.
Hi Cara,
Yeah it's going amazing!! In a small town where you cant buy much haha no clothes shops, but i guess thats a good sign as i save money :)
I'll attach a few photos of my stay at Taboo for a night and sight seeing ones, it actually snowed here my first week.
Hows things back home? you busy? one of my girlfriends angela has asked about your company and I gave you guys a good wrap so she might sign up to leave March next year, shes pretty keen as she has worked in the US before.
Hayley B.
Hi Cara.
Amy and I are loving it in Ashlar Ridge, it is awesome. Good hours, beautiful scenery and cheap rent. We are doing shopping weekly at the moment getting rides to town with the people we live with. So thankful to be here, saving money.........can`t spend it.
We will send you some photos on a disk to the global work and travel office in
We hear there is another Australian couple who may be coming up to work here also. Amy and I are so excited. We are going to look at emailing
We will keep you updated and hope everything is going well back in
Chris.
Hello Global Work and Travel friends!
I am currently living in Southfields, which is on the District Line, next to Wimbledon (UK). I guess it is famous, because many many many people from this agency seem to be living there.
Thank you for helping me when I was in Australia! If I have some big news, I will tell you.
Kind Regards,
Daniel L.
I recently had the opportunity to work at the Winter Olympics in Canada. I went through the Global Work and Travel Co and thought it was a great company that I would love to be a part of one day. So I would like to thank you for the awesome experience and I hope to be a part of your team soon.

(Job Application)
I arrived in Vancouver on 27th January, and it has been the best decision of my entire life. I have loved every single minute of this journey. Although I had a lot of regrets in the first initial days of arriving in Vancouver, I soon realised what I was here for and how it had changed my life.
I absolutely loved Vancouver, so much to see and do. Stanley Park; simply amazing! Grouse Mountain; some of the best views I have experienced of Vancouver. I loved it, every day was so different and the Olympic spirit - Wow! I have never experienced such passion and excitement!
Working at Whistler for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games was an experience I could never forget. Most intense, fast-paced work I have ever done, but It was most certainly worth the experience. And the skiing - absolutely awesome!
Banff is such a beautiful town, centred smack-bang in the middle of the Canadian Rockies. Banff Gondola; really opens your perspective of this amazing National Park which seems to never end! Lake Louise; simply gorgeous, words cannot describe how beautiful this place is - even in winter!
I have just started work at The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and am having the best time of my life! I don't want to go back home.
As I said, it is hard to put my experience into words. But It is seriously, amazing!
Thanks,
Troy A.
Hi!
I was hired for the Paralympics and I'm having a pretty good time here actually =) Met a lot of interesting people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds. Met a hippy woman who burnt all her bras in the 70's and has never bought new ones, A middle eastern guy who dances better than Micheal Jackson and a native american girl who gives everyone friendly hugs and kisses. So many to mention, not enough time to type them all.
Vancouver is nice and cold, a great change from the aussie weather i'm used to, i actually got to see snow for the first time!! My friend got my face on camera at my very first close up glance of the stuff! The hostel you guys put me in was very conviently located and everything was just a stone throw away.
Thanks for everything =)
Hope to hear from you soon.
Kind regards,
Monica T.

"To Whom It May Concern:
I am just writing to in regards to the Global work and travel co office in Canada. I just wanted to thank you for all the work that they have all put into making my visit in Canada the best it possible can be. I did not have the best start with Global with a lot of miscommunication and misunderstandings of what would be offered and provided.
After just over 1 and half weeks I had a job interview lined up for a well paying job in an area of which I am interested in. I am extremely happy with all off the service that I have received since being in Canada; I would not be here now if it was not for the kind and helpful service from the staff in the Canadian office. I would just like to say keep up the good work and hope all is going well with the company and that there are many happier clients such as my self.
Thank you for the opportunity to travel and work in Canada.
Yours truly, Corinna "
"Since I've arrived in Vancouver I have had a blast, just living the dream. When i first arrived in Vancouver the global work and travel people picked me up from the airport and showed me around town which was great. They then took me to get my (sin) social insurance number and a mobile phone with $20 credit free of charge. We then went and got a nice hot coffee which i needed it was so cold when i got here.
Since my arrival i have been out snowboarding and enjoying the great vancouver life style, p.s the canadian women love the aussie acsent which is great. I'm currently working at a bike rental shop near stanley park and it is so cruisy and i've met a lot of great people while working. The global work and Travel office in Canada is absolutely great they have helped me in everyway possible and are so nice, i've enjoyed there service and have even visited the office just to say hi. They have met all my needs and helped find me jobs in what ever job i have decided to pursue, I think that they have made my stay alot better and would reccommend there services to everyone looking for a working travel holiday.
Michael "
"To Whom it may concern,
My experiences with the Canadian office of Global Work and Travel Co has been nothing but excellent from the start. I was picked up from the airport on time and taken straight to my accommodation which made me feel comfortable and well looked after immediately. When ever I needed something, it was provided and there constantly in contact with me to see if everything is fine. Everyone has been exceptionally kind and helpful towards me. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone as it has been everything i hoped for and more.
Yours sincerely
Jaye "

"Hi Cara,
The work at the Olympics has been a really great experience. I have spent most of the my time with the Biathlon Workforce crew up at WOP (Whistler Olympic Park). The work itself has been pretty repetitive and boring the people here that I have been working with have made it a worthwhile experience.
I have been staying on the Mona Lisa Cruise Ship down in Squamish. Its a bit rough when you have a 6am shift, which means 3:30am wake up, 4am bus! The ship itself is quite comfortable. I'm sharing with my friend Amy and two other girls. We have a sitting room and ensuite bathroom, and tonnes of closet space. Three meals a day are provided in the dining room with 5 Star service from the many waiters who are super eager to fill your water glass when it empties. It has a gym and it did have a spa until one couple decided to ruin the fun for the rest of us...
In terms of future plans, Amy and I are heading to Banff on Monday. We have decided to opt out of working at the Paralympics and instead trying out hand at something different in Alberta. We haven't as yet lined up any work, but have been told by many people that it's dead easy to find stuff when you get there, so fingers crossed. We're planning on staying in a hostel to begin with, and then finding either staff or shared accommodation for long term. The plan is to get a job through spring/summer and then reasses.
Overall the Olympic experience has been a good one. We've both managed to see a couple of events, which were amazing! But we're also looking forward to what the future and Banff has to offer!
Thanks to Global for getting us started! We'd be interested in any jobs that you have in that area. As for pictures, you'll have to wait for those as have come straight from work so no gear on me!
Take care,
Kellie"
"Hey Liz

"Hey guys!
Yeah I was sick for a few days but I'm almost fully recovered now. The (Employer name removed) is great. Everyone is lovely and I've made some great friends. I'm living with a guy from Latvia which is interesting. I met another Aussie who works on front desk who was sent over by you guys. We both agreed it was totally worth it to go with Global Work and Travel :). Cant remember his name (whoops!)
I'm actually surprised how much I'm loving it! Haven't felt homesick once (well except when I was sick and wanted my Mum haha) the time is going by so fast. Cant believe its been like 3-4 weeks since I arrived.
How's everything in Vancouver?
Talk soon Blake M."
Hi Everyone!
Banff was amazing, the deer and elk just wonder the town. It is spot the Canadian! I think there are more Aussies in Banff then there are in Sydney! Everytime someone opened there mouth, yet another Aussies voice.
We didnt do anything productive in Banff cept for drinking and be in the hot tub... We met a Mounty when he came to one of our rooms....Dont worry, JOHN AND I WERE NOT INVOLVED. No charges were layed!
Not broke anymore, first day back at work and made over $200 in tips, then cause I had been away all week everyone was thirsty and so my bar was reopened! I love it, one day you can be so skint the next, rolling in it!
Rachy (& John)

Hi guys!
I got here safe and sound. Rosedale on Robson was beautiful and the shopping in Vancouver was great. Catherine is lovely and we sat up and had a few drinks with Andrew and Allan. We are all going Whitewater rafting tomorrow. It took us about 12 hours to get from Vancouver to Golden, they landscape is just gorgeous and I saw a grizzly bear and her cub and 4 mountain goats, one was just a little baby. I think one of the goats was going to be the bear’s dinner.

Hi guys
Golden.B.C in Canada is great, it’s a beautiful town. It is completely different to back home. I have bought myself a mountain bike, and I have been getting around on that. It has so far been a great experience and loving it. I have seen some wild life and some sights; we are going to go rafting in a couple of weeks which should be interesting. I have heaps of photos, I’ll be sending some your way soon, and I have them saved on the computer upstairs. It’s my day off today and also tomorrow so I may go for a bit of a ride into Town tonight. Anyways, all is good, I’ve contacted family back home and they are happy for me. You will be hearing back from me soon, thanks guys.
From Allan

Hi
this place is awesome my accommodation is a log cabin with a shared bath room, the bosses here are really nice very western so takes a bit to get to know them, they supply all meals and rent for $50 a week which just comes off my pay, the pay is $10 a hour to start with but will go up to $12 plus tips and there is plenty of hours here, my job is bartending as well as maintenance and whatever they need me to do, the other staff members are all really nice. They are looking after me really well, as I have been working my ass off but I don’t mind as it’s paid by the hour. Well I shall keep ya posted on how things are going. Take it easy
Justin

i wake up this morning and loook out my window to find SNOW, yes snow this is ment to be summer. everyone keeps saying 'oh the hot weather is coming you'll regret it when it does'. so i asked around to find out what the hottest temp is and they say it gets to a sweltering 35 maybe 37c. at this point i through back my head in laughter and stated 'thats like our spring and fall. i brought my krafty kuts and shambhala tickets yestarday :-) so i'll be meeting up with dhurva and going, prob hire a van as it's just out of town. work's been great finished all the gardening (stoked with how quick i work) now doing front desk, and bellman service. i'm going to hire a boat the first sunny day off and sail down the lake i'll get some photo's and send them through. i've been spinning in the park every night (with flowpoi they fraun on fire in this town i think). and been getting some good footage will up load to myspace soon, still working out some glitches. went and had a few drinks with the phlipino blokes i work with, well thats all for now let me know how you are all doing.love and hugs.
well my petals, how goes it all me GREAT,left brissy at 10 am tues and the flight was half empty so me and this kiwi bloke named shamish, stretched out and started soaking up some free drinks. after three hours many scotch's and asahi's later the hostess cut us of damn it i thought. we landed in taipai international which is huge, it took me 2 hours to walk from end to end. i met up with a hand full of aussies in the only place that served beer and stayed there for the 6 hour stop over. again the flight from taipai to vancouver was empty so i had 4 seats to my self, but every time i went to sleep bloody turbulence. landed in Vancouver at 8 western pacific time (17 hours behind OZ). Vancouver is beautiful! snow capped mountains in the distance huge maples line most of the streets, little cafes and clubs every where, electric buses, wicked architecture. walked around Vancouver then went back to the hotel and slept for 3 hours, got up and jumped on a bus bound for Nelson (thats where i live now) 13 hours of rolling mountains, pine forest, and snow (it's the start of summer go figure). and final i arrived at Nelson. It's great, my room (in the hotel i work for)(cheap rent ka-ching) looks out over lake Kootenay which stretches on for ever. massive mountains covered in snow, pine trees line the town on both sides of the lake like a cradle. off in the distance are two huge mountains covered in snow, oh a cold breeze let me close the door.... the town it self is like a cross between Nimbin, Murwillumbah and Byron, and about the size of south tweed. there is huge music scene here with great local and international acts playing every week.So thats about it so far only had a day to explore as i start work tomoz. talk to you all again soon.
Hi Guys!
last Sunday i had a bbq with the philpino blokes that I work with, which was great! Monday I headed down to the beach (a strip of sand on the shore of the lake, a beach HA) we played a few rounds of volley ball when the stakes got raised, the losing side had to swim out to a buoy 30m from the shore (in 8 degree water). So naturally we won (Blake and I) but for some reason I was the one that went swimming. After some lunch Blake and I went for a drive to Rossland a town an hour & a half away in the mountains. blokes mate wrote a play and they were doing a run through. Awesome play can't wait for opening night. after the rehearsal we had dinner with Tyler (the writer), Nadien (the director), Alison, Hayle, and Page (3 of the actresses). Playing some pool and having a few drinks someone spots a bear (cub), so I grabbed my camera jump over the hand rail and off I went. Got two shots will up load soon. After a great night we got up meet Alison and hayle for breakfast and then we all went to tahgum beach (again lakeside sand) played some frizz and had a swim. After lunch we decided to take the girls to Ainsworth a natural hot spring in a cave 45 mins out of nelson, it was awesome so so hot. mmmmmmmmmmmmm I can't wait to go back. Then worked from the week til Friday night. I went out for drinks with Chelsie a chick I work with, we ended up at Blakes he was having a patio party, hung there for a bit Chels went home and Carson and I went to a party out at Winlaw, a beautiful place about 30mins from nelson. The party was awesome just like the drum circles back home. The owner of the land introduced himself and I went on the royal tour, such a beautiful location thanx Ricardo, can't wait to come back. thats about all for now. many blessings, love, and big hugs
Jaiko
Hi Global,
thanks for your email with all the info. I called the hotel yesterday and had a quick chat with the deputy manager, she was very friendly and helpful. I will send you another email once I start work at southampton and let you know how everything is going.
I didn't get a chance either to say a proper thank you to you for organising everything for this working holiday. It would have been impossible without all your help and hard work, so thank you very much for everything!
Kind regards,
Nicole
